Nestled behind the law school on Boston College's Newton Campus is one of the nation's elite soccer and lacrosse facilities.

The Newton Campus Soccer and Lacrosse Complex received a facelift in the middle of the 2014 season as AstroTurf installed its state-of-the-art 3D60H artificial playing surface.

AstroTurf 3D60H combines the innovative Horseshoe fiber with AstroTurf's patented RootZone technology. The Horseshoe fiber refers to the omega-shaped "blades of grass" which cover the playing surface and offer a high degree of resiliency because the fiber bounces back and holds its shape longer than a traditional monofilament fiber. The RootZone® is AstroTurf's infill stabilization system, a crimped layer of fibers which holds the sand and rubber infill in place to radically reduce infill migration, splash, and deep-cleat penetration. The result is clean, consistent playing surface that garners high marks for player performance, ball roll, safety, durability and aesthetics.

The facility also features permanent team benches canopied to guard against the elements and a 30-seat enclosed press box complete with a roof deck filming area.

The field first opened in September of 1999 and was so well received that it was honored by the Soccer Managers Association as the College Soccer Field of the Year. Lights were added to the field prior to the 2003 season and the facility spent the first eight years with a natural grass pitch before switching to turf in 2008.

General fans, friends, and family alike sit near the action, and the close tree line provides an intimate atmosphere for contests.
