Jake Zyrus excited to ‘duet’ with Charice in upcoming concert

For Jake Zyrus’ first concert with his new identity, he plans on singing with his old identity Charice Pempengco.

“I’m so excited because finally, I’ll be able to express the real me in front of our countrymen,” Zyrus told ABS-CBN News.

Zyrus, a transgender man, was known as Charice Pempengco before her transition. Pempengco gained international notoriety after being featured on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Oprah Winfrey Show. She also appeared in three episodes of the show Glee.

He said he feels freer because he no longer hides anything from his fans.

He said that the idea of having Zyrus do a duet through with Pempengco through projecting an old video was “really cool.”

“But don’t expect that I’ll split my body in half,” Zyrus joked.

Zyrus, who was known for his power belting when he was performing under his old identity, said he couldn’t promise he would do that in his upcoming show, but promised that he would perform with “sincerity and confidence.”

His concert is scheduled for Oct. 6 at the Music Musem in Greenhills, San Juan City.
