Viburnum × burkwoodii 'Compact Beauty' - Compact Beauty Burkwood viburnum
.
Common name: Compact Beauty Burkwood viburnum
Family: Caprifoliaceae (honeysuckle family)
Distribution: hybrid: selection of Viburnum carlesii × V. utile
Hardiness: USDA Zone 5
Life form: Deciduous shrub/Subshrub
Comments: A deciduous, multi-stemmed, compact selection growing up to 6-7" a year. Growing smaller than is typical for this hybrid group, the short internode growth means a 6' high and 5' wide plant after 10 years. Deep green, glossy foliage remains attractive all summer long. Profuse coral pink buds in April mature into 3-5" wide clusters of sparkling white, spicy fragrant flowers. Fall colors are a kaleidoscope of orange, scarlet, yellow and green and remain effective into November.
