Aucuba Japonica Variegata commonly known as Variegated Japanese Laurel is a large bushy, evergreen shrub with dark green glossy leaves covered in creamy yellow spots over the entire foliage.
In the months of April and May the Aucuba Japonica Variegata produces these small flower clusters of purple, followed closely by small, shiny red berries which wildlife love.
This Aucuba is perfect for brightening that shaded dark area in the garden which needs some added colour. We recommend planting this shrub in borders, flower beds, informal or coastal gardens and if planted in groups can create a colourful garden bush or screen.
Aucuba Japonica Variegata care
The Aucuba Japonica Variegata thrives in partial or fully shaded locations with well drained soil, although can normally grow in moist soil types apart from buggy. A perfect shrub for low maintenance gardens the Aucuba Variegata is generally disease and pest free and requires little to no pruning. We would recommend to tidy up any loose branches to encourage a more bushy growth. Propagation methods are either from seed or taking semi-hardwood cuttings.
