Buddleja Royal Red, often known as Butterfly Bush is a bushy, deciduous, large shrub with long arching stems and long lance shaped mid green leaves with lighter felt undersides. In May through to August the Buddleja Royal Red produces these stunning long panicles of deep purple/red, scented flowers, producing one of the largest blooms!
Making a good specimen plant, the Royal Red is often planted in flower beds and borders, containers and a firm favourite in low maintenance wildlife gardens.
Buddleja Royal Red care
The Buddleja Royal Red thrives in sunny locations and well drained soils. We would recommend occasional pruning in the month of March by cutting back the previous years growth which will encourage more vigorous growth and more flower blooms in the next season. Buddleja Royal Red is a lovely shrub which is hardy throughout the UK and survives even the coldest winters.
