Cotoneaster Horizontalis Variegata commonly known as the Variegated Cotoneaster is a low growing, compact deciduous shrub which has long, arching stems with small oval shaped green leaves and a soft cream margin. The leaves turn a lovely red and pink colour in autumn months creating a fantastic effect across the plant. In May the Cotoneaster Horizontalis Variegata will produce red flowers in summer months, closely followed by these glossy orange and red fruit which are a firm favourite with the wildlife making a good wildlife planting addition.

The low growing shrub can be planted in many locations including areas such as banks and slopes and flower beds and borders, suiting many other locations, planting schemes and garden types making a good low maintenance addition to the garden.

Cotoneaster Horizontalis Variegata care

The Cotoneaster Horizontalis Variegata will thrive in sunny, partially shaded areas which are sheltered from cold drying winds and soils which are well drained. The Cotoneaster is low maintenance, requiring a light prune if needed which makes a good plant for both expert and beginner gardeners alike. Naturally forming a good strong shape, sometimes may need removal of dead and damaged branches and any which mishape the plant from its natural framework.
