Nina Dobrev may have left The Vampire Diaries but the actress says she will definitely tune in when the show returns to The CW on Oct. 8.

“I can’t wait to see what the new season will look like,” she says. “I’ll be watching. I’m very excited for my friends.” One thing the actress won’t be doing, however, is appearing on it. “That chapter is closed, sadly — bittersweet,” she says.

Dobrev announced she was leaving the series back in April, and discussed her exit at the Teen Choice Awards in August. “Just like Elena, I started the show as a young girl, and together we grew up,” Dobrev said during the awards show. “We’ve grown up and over the last six years we’ve become women. These were six incredible years that I’ve had the pleasure of sharing with all of you guys. I wouldn’t be here with you. I wouldn’t be here without Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson. They changed my life with this role. Sorry. Three roles. Four roles. It’s hard to keep track these days.”

The good news for fans of the actress? Dobrev can soon be seen in horror-comedy The Final Girls (out Oct. 9) playing a blunt-speaking character named Vicki who finds herself trapped in a Friday the 13th-esque slasher movie called Camp Bloodbath. “She doesn’t have a censor,” Dobrev says of the role. “She’s like, ‘This guys’s gonna kill me, we need a f—ing chainsaw, we need to do this!‘”
