Got this on a GB auction hoping that it was the long sought for 25.4mm Fiat-Revelli. Crimping grove matches. Thanks, Bruce.
Hi Bruce, sadly they don’t match. This is an Italian 25 mm Nordenfelt (25x95R) projectile.
Please, can you post a picture of the case headstamp?
Regards,
Fede
Well Darn the bad luck. Here’s a shot of the base of the casing…
Base of the round is different from the Nordenfelt rounds. Interesting.
Cheers, Bruce.
Thanks!
yes, case is a Revelli one, made by Metallurgica Bresciana (MB). Ball is from a 1" Nordenfeldt as told by Fede. This bullet was retrieved, in 1937!!!, by modifying an older one with an extended driving band (turavento).
Here below the mentioned old version with a brass “turavento”
Here’s a couple. Seemed like I had another, but cannot place it at the moment. Running back and forth getting things ready for an X-ray day in a few hours so no time to hunt right now.
Mel is in town to try and get some images for his next book, so we’re drooling over some exceptional ultra-rare tround items.
Slurp!
