???FIAT-REVELLI MOD.1914
the “FIAT” was only used on the 1935 rebuild to Belt Fed 8x59 Breda.
Up to the 1930s it was simply referred to as the “REVELLI”.
Bethel Abiel Revelli, an engineer working for FIAT and also Officine Villar Perosa ( Ball Bearing Factory) and associated with the Agnelli family, who founded FIAT in 1895 ( Automobile Manufacture).
MG used throughout WWI, Libyan Pacification ( 1920s) Abyssinian War, 1935-6; and partly in SCV.
Most converted to M14/35, but some still used North Africa and
AOI, 1936-1940s.
Very rare gun today, Feed units even rarer.
Feed units preloaded with loose 6,5 cartridges ( 50 round card packet) into 10 unit Crates;
Could also be refilled in field.
Effectively a “Magazine”
Doc AV.

I relied on this information:Karabin Maszynowy Fiat Revelli Mod 1914.pdf (167,8 KB)

Rufus, nice item, thanks for sharing.

The name “FIAT” is correct and was in fact used to designate this machine gun model. I have different manuals, and all of them call it “Fiat Revelli” or just “FIAT”. Also, I don’t know of any source indicating he worked for FIAT or OVP.

An interesting remark about this magazine, is that the manual recommends using olive oil to lubricate the cartridges placed on top.

Jeff, thanks for sharing, the 100 round version is a great piece!

There was also an experimental 250 round curved model.

Never seen magazines like this even in museums. Great photos!

Gentlemen I know this thread is two years old but I joined this forum to be able to reach out to members here. I am a long time enthusiast in the collecting world and while I am not a cartridge collector nor do I have much experience in that area I am a long time MG collector and major beltfed enthusiast and builder. I actually have a papered 1914 Fiat Revelli that I got from my dear friend Dolf Goldsmith and I promised him that I would do my best to make it the most complete one in the country.
I doubt most here know who Dolf is but you can google his name. He has written more books on MG’s that anyone I know and his best friend whom passed a year or so ago was a big cartridge collector and I have to deal with his estate currently which is why I joined the forum.
I am certainly interested in anything fiat Revelli and have lots of stuff to trade or cash.
I have been in the hobby for a long time and look forward to learning what I can on the site. Thanks, Russ

Here is visual proof that the Fiat name was used. This illustration is from the Italian book Manuale di armi e tiro, by Mario Zanotti (Ten. Colonn.), published in 1928.

Munavia, that is an interesting picture of the Modelo 35 which were converted for belts but that one still shows the mouse trap in it. I have no idea what the value is for a 50 round mouse trap as all of the ones I got either came from Dolf or I did on trade with friends and the ones I did on trade were around 250.00-300.00 trade value. While they are rare there is only six guns here in the US so not much of a market for them. When you add in the fact that nobody shoots the Revelli except for me the market is smaller yet. Dolf used to shoot his and we spent a good deal of time behind it which is why it is a sentimental piece for me.
My big goal is to find a 100 rd. mouse trap to test the conversion Dolf and I made for the Revelli. The 100 rd. mouse trap did not work well with the 6.5 Carcano round because it was too heavy and cantilevered out of the gun too far so it would not advance properly so we made a 7.62x39 conversion for the Revelli. I am pretty sure it will work but I have yet to turn up a 100 rd mouse trap to test it.
