Very early flowers and evergeen leaves!
This is a great plant for sunny and partially shaded areas. Tall Oregon Grape is quite drought tolerant, and has holly-like evergreen leaves. Yellow flowers appear in very early spring, and are among the earliest flowers to bloom, making them sought-after by newly emerged queen bumblebees. The sour berries are human-edible, and good food for birds.
