On the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the festival we will be running a special guided tour to two popular attractions near Budapest, starting at 11.30am. First, we will visit the Hungaroring, which has hosted the Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix since 1986. The visit to Mogyoród gives us the chance to go behind the scenes and explore parts of the track where spectators are not allowed to go during the race weekends.
In the second part of the tour, from 1pm, we will enjoy a traditional buffet lunch of Hungarian culinary specialities at the Lázár Equestrian Park. Then comes a showcase of Hungarian equestrian culture, with pony carriages, four-in-hand driving, mounted archery, foal racing, and ‘Puszta five’ riding. In the Lazareum museum there is an exhibition and film (available in nine languages) about the world-famous Lázár brothers, Vilmos and Zoltán, or you can even go for a carriage ride nearby. The park is situated in the beautiful Domonyvölgy area, and the nine-hectare protected site is home not only to horses but also to native Hungarian animals, such as the grey cattle, the racka sheep, the mangalitza pig and the puli dog.
