Hi,
New Glass owner of about a week. I totally understand this is a mid range panel and I'm not expecting inky oled blacks or anything. But the latency of the local dimming on my unit seems broken.
It's totally off putting. In darker scenes there are constant "ghosts" from previous camera angles.
Using a local dimming test video from YouTube clearly shows the problem. There trails all over the screen from many seconds ago.
Anyone else's like this on this video?

@what type of internet speed are you getting and is the same issue present if you hardwire the glass ?

I do have it running on WiFi but have virgin media and Google Nest Pro WiFi that maxes out at 250mbps across my whole house.
I have no judder and buffering of any channels at all.
Just seems the local dimming is so slow to kick in and actually do anything.

also always worth pulling the plug for 10 minutes and seeing if that clears the issue
if not it would seem to suggest you have a defective unit which could be swapped under warranty
my unit certainly does not have any ghosting present

Thanks, I'll give both and try and then contact sky.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@MrLeeches I still have suspicions that this is the cause of the flickering I see in the Prime and Disney + app. Local dimming was disabled for a long time and only relatively recent re-enabled.
I will say, however that I've not seen it tonight on Disney + (with the Glass TV recently updated f/w to q015.006 too) and I know Sky have been working on it so maybe they are two separate issues and I'm barking up the wrong tree.
Hopefully for both of us these issues are sorted soon.

@Joe-Bow Thanks for your reply.
Was still on Q014 last night - Im guessing there is no way to force the update?
The ghosting is pretty bad and is making some shows hard to watch. Just trying to figure out if this is normal behaviour or if my panel has a fault.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@MrLeeches Used to be, but it was removed a while ago unfortunately. If I were you, I'd register this issue with Sky, send videos too if possible, so they're aware of it, and see if Q015.x is any better for you. Then make a decision on what to do next.

Just got Q015 and it does appear to have made things better. 👍
It was a quick look this morning through bleary eyed but will give it a full road test this weekend

Just got off the phone with Sky. Really helpful and after sending them some pictures the agree its a fault and are sending a new unit, which will be here on Sunday.
Top service!
