Nebelhorn-Oberstdorf ski resort

Nebelhorn is a relatively small ski resort with a surprisingly diverse terrain! It is one of the four ski areas, located in the Oberstdorf region in Germany. It boasts almost 12 kilometers of pistes in total, with half of them being suitable for the intermediates. This may seem not that impressive when compared to other resorts, however, Nebelhorn-Oberstdorf certainly has its particular charm. The variety of activities is not at all limited, and here you can try even such rare sports like snow-tubing and snow cycling. Another highlight not to miss is a 7,5-meter ski trail with a starting point at the peak of Nebelhorn – one of the longest in Germany.

Safety measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Nebelhorn-Oberstdorf

According to the new decision of the German government, adopted on January 5, a strict quarantine will last until at least January 31, 2021. This is a mandatory precaution to lower the number of cases in all parts of the country. All leisure facilities and resorts (including ski resort Nebelhorn-Oberstdorf) must remain closed until the end of this period. Moreover, booking an overnight stay in this region is, unfortunately, impossible for now.

Since December 16, 2020, the nationwide curfew has been implemented as well. It lasts from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., and during this time, leaving a domicile without a valid cause is forbidden. People can only do this in case of a medical emergency, if they need to take care of children and the elderly, or if they work night shifts, etc.

Other protective measures include:

● Limitation of private gatherings to the persons from one household and 1 person from another household + their child (only the child under 3 years of age);
● Refrain from all non-essential traveling during the quarantine (including family visits);
● Ban for overnight stays for tourists, except for the travelers who came to Oberstdorf on a business trip;
● Mandatory 10-day quarantine for those who had returned from a daily trip abroad;
● An obligation to wear a mask in all public areas, including public transport, pedestrian zones, etc.;
● A necessity to maintain a physical distance of 1,5 meters from the strangers;
● Closure of the bars and restaurants with delivery or take-away option available;
● All events in the region, except for church services, are postponed until further notice;
● The integration of the Corona-Warn App, which helps to break the chains of infection by tracing contacts between users.

Important: If you are sheltering in Bavaria during the quarantine and feel ill (the symptoms may include cough and fever), please, inform your host and do not leave your place. For further instructions, call medical service by dialing 116117.

Obersdorf ski area

Skiing in Nebelhorn and ski pass prices 2020/2021

The whole Obersdorf ski area includes 4 zones: Fellhorn/Kanzelwand, Söllereck, Walmendingerhorn/Heuberg/Ifen, and, finally, Nebelhorn. All of them definitely worth a shot, however, we recommend starting your skiing adventures from the last one. From the 11,9 kilometers of ski trails, Nebelhorn has 2,8 kilometers of easy pistes, 4 kilometers of difficult ones, and 6 kilometers of intermediate runs. Even though they are not insanely long as, for instance, at Les Quatre Vallées in Switzerland, local pistes are always well-groomed and not crowded.

The whole area of the resort is set in the range of 800 to 2200 meters above sea level. Nebelhorn itself has an altitude of 2224 meters, which is considered to be the highest point in the region.

The biggest drawcard is that on its top you can soak up a magnificent view of 400 mountain peaks being at your feet! This is what makes this place unique since all other zones have lower elevations. The local infrastructure consists of 6 lifts and gondolas, which quickly transport skiers and snowboarders up and down the mountain.
