Audi driver ploughs into crowd at Coimbatore bus stop, kills seven

Seven people, including three women, were killed and three others seriously injured when a speeding car mowed them down in Coimbatore, police said on Wednesday.

The victims were waiting at a bus stop near Sundarpuram when an Audi driver lost control over the SUV and ploughed into the crowd. He was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.

The driver was caught by the public and later handed over to the police. The injured have been admitted to a hospital, police said, adding that investigation was underway. A few vehicles and an electric pole were also damaged in the incident.
