The ornamental Crab apple is a wonderful addition to most gardens, they will grow on any soil, even the poorest with care.
We grow over 125 varieties, many of which are listed below. There is a Crabapple for any garden as they range in size from 3m (9ft) too 10m (32ft) including weeping varieties.
They can also be used for Jelly such as varieties- Harry baker, Jelly king, John downie, Rosehip, Pink glow and many others.
Wild birds also love the fruit and are a wellcome addition to the wildlife garden, especially into the winter months when the Siberian varieties are still full of fruit.

Malus atrosanguinea Gorgeous
A Medium sized rounded head tree, bright green foliage turning bronze in autumn, flowers in late April pink in bud opening white, and are almost apple-blossom at times. A crabapple with an upright, oval shaped habit producing an abundance pink buds opening to fragrant white flowers in May, followed by shiny, purple-red fruits. Malus Brevipes (wedding bouquet crab)
This is a rounded head tree with long tapered dark green healthy leaves, single shell-shaped, ivory white flowers, emerging from pink buds, hence the common name, followed by profuse clusters of small transluscent dark red fruits persistent into December.

This variety is a small, spreading crabapple tree with slightly drooping branches. In spring the foliage opens grey-green, and pink buds open to white flowers flushed with pink. The fruit is 2-3cm across, yellow-orange with a red flush.

A small, semi-weeping tree. The descending branches are studded with fragrant, light pink flowers in late April which are set off by the copper-red young leaves. Malus Donald Wyman
This is a round headed tree when mature of medium size, which has a pleasing appearance in the garden. The blossom is white and borne in great profusion along the stems, followed by the fruit which are small, but remain on the tree into early winter, providing interest even after the leaves have fallen. disease free.

A purple-leaved form of the native American Prairie Crabapple. The large dark pink flowers have a characteristic fragrance, followed by green and yellow fruit. Good red autumn colour on certain soils. Medium disease resistance.

Malus florentina Rosemoor
Common name is the `Hawthorn leaved Crab apple’, it’s leaves are similar to the common hawthorn, lobed leaves with rough surface, colouring richly in autumn. The flowers are white small in flat corymbs (Flat topped clusters). The fruits are small .25cm across yellow ripening to red. Disease resistant.

This is a round-headed small tree with a drooping habit when mature, with narrow leaves on arching branches. Flowers crimson in bud opening pale pink. Fruit 1cm, red and yellow. Medium disease resistance.

A choice Crabapple that fits in any garden. Crimson buds open to wonderfully fragrant dark pink to red flowers in spring. As the flowers spend, reddish-purple foliage emerges and turns to dark green as the summer progresses before finishing vividly orange in autumn. Bright, glossy red fruit, about the size of a cherry, shines in winter. Though not always persistent, Red Barron’s compact and narrow habit limits the mess. Susceptible to disease.

This is a highly ornamental variety which is perfect for the small garden, it is one of my favourite Crab apples. Leaves are green and flowers are pink in bud opening pure white in early May. The fruit is large 4cm across and are bright pink turning deep red they resemble large rosehips, they are perfect for Jelly and the wild birds love them as well. Excellent disease resistance.
