This is a nice statue located near Belvedere Palace in Vienna.
This is a Soviet War Memorial that translates in English to 'Heroes' Monument of the Red Army.'
It was built to commemorate the 17,000 Soviet soldiers who perished during World War II.
Worth taking a look at if you happen to be in the area sightseeing, it's very well made and maintained.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Jan 11, 2017
This Soviet War Memorial located on the way to Belvedere Palace honors the the solders of the Red Army who fought with their lives during WWII. It's big and showy. I understand that the Russians put the statue up themselves, as the Austrians were just thankful that they eventually left and didn't stick around like they did with the rest of Eastern Europe.

As monuments go, it's a wonderful construction of figures depicting how Russian soldiers paid with their lives to retake Vienna. From a westerner's point of view, this is an unknown part of history. It's also the target of dissidents in the 21st century as there is more than a bit of dissonance regarding its existence. Despite the political undertones, it's a grand monument with columns, fountains, and statues. It's worth a look.
