Castle Boldogkő

Hello everyone. I want to share with you today my feelings from the castle called Boldogkő. The castle is situated in north part of Hungary. It’s not really big one but surely amazing one!

The castle is not too far from Košice ( second biggest city in Slovakia situated on the east. It takes about 40 minutes to drive by car to here. Take a bus or train is also possible but you must be lucky. It’s really complicated to get here by public transportation. So try to rent a car or try to hitchhike to here.

Before you go inside the castle, don’t forget to visit traditional restaurant under it! You surely can’t miss the entrance to restaurant because it only few meters over the parking place. Come inside, dress up in traditional clothes and order some specialties – like fried duck with potatoes ( by the way – potatoes are really superb! ) Then you can also try some soups. All the food is really delicious! Don’t worry to spend some more money also for home made lemonade.

When you get out from the restaurant – you will stay in front of this view. It looks really typical for Hungary – long fields only sometimes you can see some small peaks.

Then continue to the castle. It has some rooms with traditional things inside each. You can also find a big mill circle – get into it and try to walk in it. It is really funny – try to do it when you are there.

And the last thing which you must see is this amazing view. This long “bridge” to the castle tower! Be careful – only 10 people can go to the tower – no more. It’s really high and situated on big rock wall. But the view – and walking by that path – is really amazing! Enjoy it! Here is the photo.
