Details

The Red Rail (Aphanapteryx bonasia), is an extinct bird species from the island of Mauritius.

This is a small pack that features a:
- 1 land impact 3D mesh Red Rail (silent)
- 1 land impact 3D mesh Red Rail (that will randomly give its call). I created a unique, but plausible call for this extinct bird based on a call of its close living relative - the white throated rail.
- 5 land impact museum 3D Red Rail specimen, complete with a glass casing and plaque (see screenshots).
- 2 land impact Red Rail nest with eggs (see attached screenshot)

This mesh bird, its shape and coloring is closely based on the numerous drawings and paintings of this extinct animal.

It was a large, flightless bird that inhabited the island of Mauritius alongside of the Dodo. It went extinct in probably the first half of the 18th century. As with the more famous Dodo, it probably went extinct because of predation by invasive species brought to Mauritius by humans. These included rats, pigs and macaque monkeys.

Enjoy!
