ABIES CANADENSIS

Abies canadensis is one of the notable remedies for the treatment of gastric and urinary complaints.

Source: Vegetable kingdom.

Common Name: Pinus Canadensis, Hemlock Spruce, Canadian Hemlock.

Native Family: Coniferae

It’s a tree, which has been used for cough, common cold, bronchitis, fever, pain, tuberculosis, mouth or throat inflammation, pain in muscles or nerves, arthritic pain etc.

Sometimes it is applied directly on the affected body parts for inflammation, pain or tension.

Also used to improve circulation by adding in bath water for mentally ill patients.

Sphere of Action

It mainly acts upon the mucous membrane of stomach and female genital organs.

Clinical Applications

Indigestion, Liver affections, Uterine displacement.

Chief guiding symptoms

  1. Great debility with desire to lie down and rest all the time.
  2. Craving for pickles, radishes, turnips, meat and other coarse food is peculiar.
  3. Gnawing (a dull, constant or hunger pain), hungry, faint feeling at the epigastrium.
  4. There is tendency to eat far beyond the capacity for digestion.
  5. Burning and distention of stomach and abdomen with severe palpitation of heart.
  6. Flatulence disturbs the action of heart (due to distention of stomach).
  7. Pain under right scapula.
  8. Characteristic chilliness, cold and clammy skin(moist), cold hands, very faint.

Mental symptoms

Quiet, careless, easily gets worried.

Feels light-headed, tipsy (slightly drunkard), irritable.

Stomach or Abdomen

  • Canine hunger with torpid (sluggish) liver.
  • Gnawing, hungry, faint feeling at the epigastrium.
  • Tendency to eat far beyond capacity for digestion. Patient does not realize how much he eats.
  • Overeating causes flatulence that disturbs the action of heart due to distention of stomach and abdomen.
  • Rumbling in the bowels after eating with great appetite.
  • Constipation with burning in rectum.

Female genital Organs

  • Prolapse of uterus from general defective nutrition.
  • There is sore feeling at fundus of uterus which gets relieved by pressure.
  • Feeling of prostration, she wants to lie down all the time.
  • She thinks womb is soft and feeble.
