Description

Only a tiny region of Southern Spain and Northern Morocco has this green conifer in the wild. With a broad pyramidal crown, it grows to be a big tree. The bark is light grey to grey in color and has a smooth texture that lasts for a long time. The bark only comes off in plates as it becomes older. The juvenile twigs of this species are reddish brown with needles radiating in all directions, which is a significant and distinguishing characteristic.


Propagation: Seed, cutting

Pre-treatment: Soak the seed in water for 24 hours and sow directly or put the seed in wet tissue and put it in a zip-lock bag, then put it in the refrigerator for 6-8 weeks (during this time make sure that the tissue does not dry out) After 6-8 weeks spent in the refrigerator, the seeds are sown in the compost.

Sowing: Throughout the year in compost mixed with sand. Sow about 1-2 cm deep.

Germination: Temperature 22-25 C, germinates in 1-6 months
