History:

Operation Barbarossa encouraged the Germans to develop better anti-tank weapons to combat the growing armored threat, including the PaK-43 88 mm high-velocity anti-tank cannon, which entered service in 1943.

The Jagdpanther saw combat on both the Eastern and Western Fronts, where it proved to be an effective weapon against any armor encountered thanks to its long-range ambushing capability and thick frontal armor. 

Approximately 415 Jagdpanthers were produced by the end of the war in 1945. Though an excellent vehicle based on its statistics alone, many argue there were too few too late to meaningfully change the outcome of the war as many had expected similar innovations would have done. Despite this, the Jagdpanther remains an iconic tank destroyer today and a fan favorite among WWII enthusiasts worldwide.
