Enjoy A Romantic Tour Of The Newtown Creek Wastewater Plant

The love in the air is not what you're smelling.

GREENPOINT, BROOKLYN — Newtown Creek is for lovers.

The Newtown Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant will open its doors to the public for special Valentine’s Day tours, the city announced this week.

Pollution lovers will be allowed up into the 120-foot-tall “digester eggs” where they can enjoy romantic views of the New York City skyline and the aroma of eggs digesting sullied water, according to the city’s Department of Environmental Protection.

Those interested in a tour need to visit the DEP website to make a reservation on Jan. 30 after 11 a.m. — tickets are free but first come, first served.
