Description
The bird is green above and an iridescent copper on the underparts. It has areas of fawn and green and copper spotting. The beak is long and slightly curved.

Feeding Habits
Fawn-breasted Brilliant primarily feeds on nectar, defending flowers from other nectarivores and insects. It hovers or hangs while eating, using rapid tongue movements, and will forage at feeders and water sources. For protein, it catches small insects and spiders, employing hawking and plucking methods, especially when feeding chicks.
Habitat
Fawn-breasted Brilliant thrives in humid montane forests of the Andean highlands, typically preferring interior forested areas over edges. These habitats are characterized by dense vegetation and a wet climate, essential for the numerous plant and animal species coexisting in this biodiversity hotspot. Although the distribution of fawn-breasted Brilliant is patchy, it is adapted to the distinct climatic conditions of the tropical Andean slopes, managing to sustain its populations across these elevated, forested terrains.
