Description: This deciduous cultivar is a small and slender tree with almost vertical ascending branches. The shape makes it perfect for limited spaces or screening. It has beautiful flowering over spring with white blossoms. At the other end of the year, stunning autumnal colours. This makes the ‘Capital’ great for ornamental use as well.

Origin: China, Vietnam.

Cultural notes: Prefers full sun. Keep soil moist until the tree becomes established. Fertilise after new growth appears.

Tolerates: Tolerates drought once established. Will tolerate moderate frost. Tolerant of pollution and disease.

Flowering type and season: Flowers white blossoms in spring, flowers are produced all over the branches of the tree. This is followed by small, rust-brown coloured fruits.

Foliage type and colour: Foliage is a bright green, turning deep reds and purples through autumn before falling.

Soil type: Prefers well-draining soil. Grows best in humus-rich, Loamy or sandy soil. Alkaline to Neutral pH preferred.

Height: Up to 11m

Recommended uses: Fantastic for screening due to its slender, upright shape. An added benefit of it being a feature tree. Perfect for parkland, streetscapes, gardens and driveways.
