Momi Fir, (Abies firma), is an evergreen conifer originating from Japan. This majestic tree thrives in well-drained clay, loam, or sandy acidic soil, but will tolerate heat, humidity, and occasionally wet soil.  It will grow in USDA zones 6 to 10.  Momi Fir is more tolerant of hot humid climates than most firs are and can be grown in the Southeast, Southern California, and Hawaii. Does not require cooling hours to bud break in the Spring. Prefers full sun in northern climates and part shade in hot Southern locations. The best fir for Southern locations.
