So my Jinhao X750 and Zebra G nibs came today.
Took me 2 hours and a pair of pliers and ruining the feed on the X750 to get the nib in there…
It isn't in perfect, but I've got it to the point where there's no flow issues and such.
I'm gonna buy an X450 and try and do that one without damaging the feed.. Attempting to prime the nib / feed yields in the ink coming out right at the bottom of the feed, but normal flow is fine (works very well).

My parker Quink is too thin to get proper line variation, sadly. The ink stops sticking together when the tines spread too far.

The Zebra G nib is amazing! I love it! I will never write with a normal, tipped nib again!

Edit: I also stuck one on the end of an empty Frixion pen cartridge as a makeshift dip pen lol
we both know its gonna break in 2 days. and that makeshift dip pen is very big brain

It better not do!

Writing Japanese with the Zebra G is amazing, the line variation helps define the kana and kanji more!

Pretty pens always break, atleast for me they do. It's like LED mouses. They're just made for show. But who knows? Maybe this one's really good

The Jinhao X750 feels pretty solid, the nib was super weak though, I bent it out of shape with little force needed.
Zebra G nibs come in a 10 pack for 6 quid so…

'Tis what I intend to do

My maths teacher is the only teacher I know who uses fountain pens, we discuss the quite often.

Edit: I take fountain pens to school very often, I'm yet to make a mistake with them
I took my Ahab (but won't again, can't last a full day sadly)

So my X750 with a Zebra G nib died last night at 00:47…

I tried to get the nib out with pliers again and it just ruined the feed, no ink flow at all now

I've bought a new pen and two new feeds (to fix my current one and to have a backup if I kill the new one too ).

I feel my issues were because Zebra G is supposed to fit on to Number 6 nibs, but the feed on my pen had a number 8 on it?

Oh, that makes sense.

My friend gave me a pen a year ago and I completely forgot about it. It's like a lamy safari pen in pastel pink with a blue handle thing (i cannot remember what it was called). I can't find it anywhere. I think it might be a fake but i'm not sure

Hey, this is future pine, I was talking about the clip. not the handle

Hi! I took an art elective two years ago that required an art piece done on tracing paper using India ink and dip pens. Since then, I've been wanting to explore different tools and mediums, and, well… I'm here now.
So… does anybody have any pen and ink recs for beginners? My budget is low. Like, really low. (Take whatever you think it is and cut it in half.)
Aesthetics and durability aren't priorities for me. I'm just looking for a good introductory setup that I won't feel bad about accidentally breaking.
Thank you!

Look on Ebay for Jinhao x450s and Jinhao x750s. They're well built pens, that are aesthetically pleasing, nice to hold (have a decent weight) and write well too. Just be warned the nib isn't as strong as more expensive pens, and thus you will have to make sure not to bend it too much.

As for ink, a bottle of Parker Quink or Diamine Ink (Diamine has more colours to choose from) would probably be your best option since these Jinhaos come with a converter included (as well as a cartridge of ink).

You mention India ink so in case you aren't aware do not use India Ink on fountain pens. India ink is not compatible with fountain pens

This would be the most introductory setup, but it would be more suited for writing. If you feel like you're happy with fountain pens, the easiest next step would probably be to modify the Jinhao you had bought and put a Zebra G dip nib in the pen, so you have the writing / drawing style of a dip nib (due to the flex) while having a pen to supply the nib with ink, so you don't have to dip the pen constantly

So one of my Parker Vectors died today after someone (I don't know who) decided to colour the feed in with a yellow highlighter. Some of the highlighter ink has got in to the feed and is causing serious issues with flow…

I didn't even leave my pens unattended, I think I know who did it, but I'm not really super mad, it's an easy enough fix (needs cleaning that's all )

Yellow highlighter? Geez, they have less braincells than I do…. which is concerning. I'm guessing they wanted to colour their highlighter black/blue. Still, it's very dumb to use someone's things without their permission.

Nope, they got absolutely no highlighter on the nib, only the feed which is what really annoys me, because the Vector's feed is non-removable and also is tucked deep inside the grip section…

I think I've fixed it? I saturated the nib with a full converters worth of black ink, detached the converter, wrote with the pen till it was out of ink, put the purple cartridge back in, and now it writes well again.

The test is after an hour will it still work
