February 29 (SeeNews) - The construction of a passenger river port worth 414 million dinars ($3.8 million/3.5 million euro) began in the Danubian town of Donji Milanovac, in the east of the country, local media reported.
The first of two pontoons should be built between March 15 and April 1, while the construction of the pier is expected to be completed by the end of June, Dragan Popovic, the mayor of the municipality of Majdanpek where Donji Milanovac is located, said as seen in a video published by local broadcaster RTV Bor on Wednesday.
In April, Serbia’s government said it will invest 28 million euro ($30.6 million) in the development of river transport infrastructure across the country as part of the Sail Through Serbia government initiative.
