This steel blue cultivarient of the Noble Fir grows slowly and will develop one or two leaders with age. Prune leaders out in order to keep it in its prostrate form. In 10 years, it will grow approximately 3' ft. tall, 6' wide and will slowly become taller and wider with age. Its needles are soft to the touch and its color is soft on the eyes. The form and the color add intrigue and a calm to any garden. Like most firs, it prefers rich soil with good drainage and does not tolerate drought conditions well. If you keep an eye on soil moisture during the dry months and are willing to prune out a leader or two from time to time, this conifer will continue to impress with its bright blue color and its unique form. Prefers full sun and is hardy to Zone 5.
