Lady Gaga’s gaga shoes knocked off

Considering Lady Gaga seems to have the Midas Touch it was only a matter of time before this ankle-breaking trend was copied.

She has recently been sporting a bizzare heel-less shoes that seem to defy gravity. She told Rolling Stone recently, “When I wake up in the morning, I just feel like any other insecure 24-year-old girl. Then I say, ‘Bitch, you’re Lady Gaga, you get up and walk the walk today.'” And lately, she’s been walking the walk in nine-inch platforms called “Night Makers” by Japanese accessories designer Noritaka Tatehana.

While there is no doubt the shoes are fashion forward, they are most definitely difficult to walk in, as seen here when Lady Gaga took a tumble in Heathrow Airport.

When asked by MTV what the inspiration was for his shoes the designer replied, “I am interested in history and in the old culture and would like to divert them into modern world. The unique and creative shape comes from “Kan Pokkuri,” which used to be clogs made of empty cans. In the old days, Japanese children used to make these clogs, passing a cord through holes made in the cans. After placing each foot on a can, they tried to walk, holding the cord in their hands. So far, I have made five pairs for Lady Gaga. Most of them are customised.”

And now the imitation and cheaper version has arrived to the web. The Magic Leopard Platform Heels are 12 inches tall and cost $118.

At $3,982 less than Noritaka’s “Night Makers“, it should come as no surprise that the copycats have already sold out.
