What did work was changing the max width value to just my native width, and now all resolutions up to 2560x1440 are there!
Although it does beg the question , why is the file there at all if all it does is cause problems?
The game actually works quite well in 1440p ultrawide too
I recently got a 3440x1440 monitor, tried to load the game and it just keeps crashing to desktop after showing GRID logo. Restoring the XML to it's original state allowed the game to start but obviously at low resolutions. If I try to change it in anyway or deleting it it crashes again.
I'm assuming it's to do with the widescreen resolution.
Anyone got any thoughts or solutions?
But anyway, when I went to the hardware_settings_restrictions.xml & whatever resolution I was changing to it will continue to cause crash in graphic settings and make game run at 1280x720 resolution at start up. Otherwise in game there weren't any crashes.
After changing to <data> <res mem="" maxWidth="" /> </data>
Then of-course going to graphics settings no longer caused it to crash, but I couldn't set any resolution at all.
Finally, the solution was completely delete value from the hardware_settings_restrictions.xml
After removing this then I could now finally enter the Graphics Settings and manually change the resolution back to 2560x1440 clicked to save changes. Now game no longer crashes when going to the Graphics Settings.
