Selena Gomez

Selena Marie Gomez (born July 22, 1992), who was named after the singer Selena Quintanilla, started acting as a child before launching a music career and going on to star in the Hulu hit series “Only Murders in the Building.” Starting out in “Barney and Friends,” she played pop star Mikayla in “Hannah Montana” and then won the lead role in Disney Channel’s “Wizards of Waverly Place,” becoming a major teen celebrity. At age 16, she signed a recording deal with Hollywood Records and went on to record several albums with Selena Gomez & the Scene. Gomez moved into more mature roles with the film “Spring Breakers” and also released a solo album.

After dealing with physical and mental health issues, she entered rehab twice and became active in mental health advocacy. Her second solo studio album, “Revival,” spawned several hit singles, and she served as executive producer of the series “13 Reasons Why.” She continued to release hit songs such as “Lose You to Love Me” and the Charlie Puth collaboration “We Don’t Talk Anymore” and to act in movies such as “The Dead Don’t Die” and “A Rainy Day in New York.” Gomez won a starring role in Hulu’s 2021 series “Only Murders in the Building” alongside Steve Martin and Martin Short, and as executive producer of the comedy mystery series, she became one of only a few Latinas who was Emmy-nominated for comedy producer. Gomez remains the most-followed woman on Instagram, and the first to reach more than 400 million followers.
