The Pied Honeyeater is a highly nomadic honeyeater of central to northwestern Australia. It moves about in response to food availability and from experience is very attracted to flowering Emu-bush (Eremophila spp.), which are widspread in the arid zone. The call made by the male (seen and heard there) travels far. Males also perform a spectacular display flight to attract females. In Australia, black and white birds from many families tend in general to show aggressive tendencies, and this bird lives up to that 'rule'. Can be sometimes seen with the smaller Black honeyeater, see: vimeo.com/78452143
