The Painted Honeyeater is a distinctive and uncommon inhabitant of woodland in eastern Australia. It ranges in an arc from eastern NT through inland Qld, central and eastern NSW and central Victoria. It breeds in the southern part of its range and overwinters further north. It is strongly associated with mistletoe, in which it feeds on the flowers and the fruits - as seen here. These birds were filmed on a property in northern NSW, where a fair number were found in mistletoe growing in Acacias.
