One of Australia's most spectacular birds is the Superb Lyrebird. It is found in humid forests of the coast, ranges and mountains of south eastern Australia; from Eastern Victoria to SE Queensland. It is known for the spectacular visual and sound display of the male courtship dance; here filmed. Males maintain a display area and females in his territory come by and check him out. The male will mimic a range of birds ( and sometimes maybe other sounds) heard in his local area, in addition to his own song.
