How to Bake Brie

You'll find a detailed ingredient list and step-by-step instructions in the recipe below, but let's go over the basics:

Baked Brie Ingredients

These are the four ingredients you’ll need to make this easy baked brie recipe:

  • Brie: Start with an 8-ounce wheel of Brie cheese.
  • Preserves: Use your favorite type of preserves — we recommend peach or apricot. You can also use your favorite jam.
  • Puff pastry: You’ll need one sheet of puff pastry, thawed.
  • Egg white: Brush the puff pastry with an egg white before baking to give it a shiny finish.

Cook’s Note

If you prefer a more savory-tasting appetizer, use herbed cheese spread instead of preserves. Baking times are the same for the substitution.

How to Make Baked Brie

Here’s a brief overview of what you can expect when you bake brie at home:

  1. Slice Brie cheese wheel in half so that you have two circles of cheese.
  2. Sandwich the preserves between the cheese halves, then reassemble.
  3. Wrap the entire wheel of Brie with the puff pastry.
  4. Transfer onto the prepared baking sheet seam-side down.
  5. Brush puff pastry with egg white.

How Long to Bake Brie

In an oven preheated to 350 degrees F, the Brie should be perfectly golden brown on the outside and melted on the inside in about 30 minutes.

What to Serve With Baked Brie

Crackers are the traditional choice for baked Brie, but homemade crostini would be even better. Nuts, dried fruits, and sliced fruits make for an elegant presentation.

Can You Reheat Baked Brie?

Baked Brie tastes best straight out of the oven. However, if you have leftovers (unlikely!), you can store them in an airtight container for up to four days. Reheat gently in the oven or microwave to re-melt the cheese.
