I've had the HX99G for about a week or so now. In that time I have fully reconfigured the system a couple times and ran a few tests in the process. These are my findings.
What I like:
I can not emphasize enough how fast this thing is. I was able to run BG3 and Total War Warhammer 2 at max settings @1080P. Blender runs great as well. The quality of materials is also readily apparent. This thing is covered in carbon fiber, the cooling solution is both quiet as a mouse and very effective. The minimalist design includes everything that matters while trimming off every gram of fat. There is a ton of I.O. allowing you to connect more pariphary devices than you could possibly need. It is very easy to access the RAM & SSD
What I dislike:
The BIOS feels like an afterthought. A UEFI would have been great. The software surrounding this device does the trick but doesn't stand up to the expectations set by the hardware. The drivers are not .exe for the most part. There is a WAN driver on Minisforim's website that is an .exe It's in Chinese but you don't have to read it to hit next.🤷🏼 (I realize this is probably more convenient for Linux users but still. Once you have internet, the AMD Adrenaline tool can get all your drivers in order.) Last thing, I would have liked a micro SD card reader and a Kensington Lock.
Final thoughts, while the BIOS is mediocre and the driver support is adequate, these things are vastly overshadowed by the excellent build quality, thoughtful design and the powerful yet efficient hardware.
