Late last week, Rosewood Hotels opened the tallest five-star hotel in the world in Guangzhou, China. Their second hotel in mainland China, located in the heart of Guangzhou’s chic Tianhe District, the hotel is situated on the top 39 floors of the 108-story CTF Finance Centre, the seventh-tallest building in the world. Soaring some 1,740 feet at its highest point (which is the highest point of the building), Rosewood Guangzhou also earns the status as the world’s tallest five-star hotel.

Stephan Tschuppik, managing director of the Rosewood Guangzhou, spoke to us about how the hotel’s soaring heights reflects the rise of the Guangzhou area itself. “Rosewood Guangzhou offers an elevated experience in more ways than one,” says Tschuppik. “Our soaring hotel is a fitting symbol of Guangzhou’s ascent as an international economic and cultural capital.”

The interiors of the hotel were created by the Toronto-based firm Yabu Pushelberg.

Atop this towering metropolitan oasis, guests will find one of the most complete and contemporary hotel experiences in China—with design by Toronto-based firm Yabu Pushelberg. In addition to the 251 modern guest rooms and suites, each designed to feel like a residence—with views of Tianhe and the rest of Guangzhou—the property will include 23 spacious and stylish duplex residences, as well as a seven different original dining experiences.

Dining options at the hotel include a Chinese restaurant, a bistro, and a bar. Located on the 107th floor, there is another restaurant, a sky bar that also features a cigar humidor area and wine cellar.

But the hotel isn’t just for luxe rooms, restaurants, and bars. There are spaces for meeting as well, including the Pavilion. This residential-styled space features a ballroom, three separate function rooms, two VIP rooms for smaller parties, one bridal suite and a “Sky Mansion” on the 108th floor (which comes complete with a kitchen). Rosewood Guangzhou is also home to the area’s largest spa and fitness facility—spanning more than two floors and including a large indoor pool.

The hotel also boasts the world’s fastest elevator, traveling almost 70 feet per second. The elevator isn’t the only thing fast here; Rosewood Guangzhou is also China’s first 5G-enabled hotel, allowing fast internet speeds. But of course, no one will be visiting Rosewood Guangzhou for its lightning-fast Wi-Fi connectivity. They’ll be coming to visit one of China’s fastest-growing cities, while staying in a hotel overlooking it all below them. “As the world’s tallest five-star hotel, the property provides a different hotel experience and a new opportunity for travelers to explore one of China’s most dynamic cities.”
