Despite the sometimes-lousy weather, the crowds, the traffic and the pesky paparazzi, word is President Barack Obama plans to make Martha’s Vineyard his regular summer vacation destination.
Our spies on The Rock report that a member of the presidential security detail popped into the Chilmark Store the other day and, before departing with his purchases, said to the gals at the register, “See you next year.”
To which, the ladies replied, “We will?”
“Oh yeah,” answered Obama’s man, “that’s supposed to be a secret.” Guess not!
So apparently the prez loves the Vineyard – and the feeling is soooo mutual. Obama was stalked by adoring mobs wherever he went during his weeklong island holiday and his visit helped local businesses recover from what was turning out to be a big bust of a summer.
In fact, the only complaint from island residents about the first family’s vacation was the lack of face time with the Obamas – who spent most of the week holed up in their rented Blue Heron Farm digs.
