Cancelled: After Dark at Hyde Park Barracks

Invalid date
Price: $25
The world heritage-listed site is coming alive with a pop-up Archie Rose bar, live music and performances once a month – and tickets are just $25.

Update: The monthly event series has been cancelled for the rest of 2021. It will be back in 2022.

The Unesco world heritage-listed Hyde Park Barracks is set to become the backdrop for a series of monthly late-night experiences from February 25 until November. Each month, live music, performances and talks will take over the convict-built space on a Thursday night, as part of Sydney Living Museum's Culture Up Late initiative.

For its first winter outing on June 24, the barracks are keeping things cosy with fire pits and giant marshmallows to toast over the flames. Muruwari man Willy Stevens will talk attendees through Aboriginal astronomy and the night sky, while the museum exhibits celestial-related items from the NSW State Archives. There'll also be a yarning circle with Sydney D’harawal Saltwater Knowledge Keeper Shannon Foster and art installations by Ella Condon.

FBi Radio has curated live music sets for the night, with poetic singer Spvrrow, soul and R'n'B artist Lady King and DJs. Plus, an Archie Rose pop-up bar is pouring drinks and OzHarvest is in charge of food.

From 5pm to 9pm. Tickets include museum entry.
