    Green shoots produce wedge-shaped to broadly lance-shaped leaves to 5mm (¼in) long with fine, tapered points, whitish green on the inner side, dark green on the outer

    Slow-growing shrub or small tree. Thin bark, peeling in strips. Female cones are reddish brown to 12m (½in) long, males slightly smaller.

    Hardy through most of the UK apart from inland valleys, at altitude and central/northerly locations. May suffer foliage damage and stem dieback in harsh winters in cold gardens. Plant can withstand temperatures down to -10°C (14°F)
