Selena Gomez's "Old Hollywood" Manicure Is an Unexpected Shade

Perfect for spring.

It seems like Selena Gomez has been walking every red carpet this awards season, and she usually brings something red to match the carpets. Sticking to the dominant trending manicure of the 2024 awards season, Gomez arrived at the Emmys in a short, dark red nail look. At the Golden Globes, she tried her hand at a just as moody, all-black patent leather nail look, but paired it with a bright red dress. Most recently, at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, she kept the red theme going, this time with a brighter twist.

On Saturday, February 24, Gomez walked the red carpet for the SAG Awards alongside the likes of Jennifer Aniston, Margot Robbie, and more. Though Selena herself wasn't nominated for any solo awards, her show, Only Murders in the Building, was up for Best Ensemble In a Comedy. So, she had to show up in style, which she did, down to her red fingertips.

Since her custom Atelier Versace dress was all-white and relatively simple—with Versace medusa logos on each of her spaghetti straps, a shimmery all-white sequin effect, and a corseted bodice—she let her nails do all the talking.

Done by her go-to manicurist, Tom Bachik, who has painted her nails for every award show this year, Gomez's nails had a short natural shape. In an Instagram post about the look, Bachik said he "took the inspiration of red nails and Bordeaux toes and made it a little more cheeky," saying these nails are "high energy and fun."

To Bachik, high energy and fun means "magenta" mixed with classic red and "plum." Which, as you can probably guess, was exactly the vibes in what he is calling Gomez's "Old Hollywood glam with a twist"—a pinkish-red hue with cool undertones that popped beautifully from her all-white outfit.

Luckily for us, if you saw this and knew you had to get this color for your next mani, Bachik posted the exact products he used to get her nails to red-carpet perfection.

First, as he always does, he prepped Gomez's nails with his own Tom Bachik x Tweezerman ($60) nail tools—cutting, filing, buffing, and trimming her cuticles with everything in the set. Though he never specified, he likely applied a nourishing base coat, as is best practice.

With the nails prepped, he applied "luscious" coats of Essie's V.I.Please ($13) before letting it dry and going in with "a thick coat" of Essie's Gel Couture Top Coat ($13). Once dry, he finished it all off with Essie's On a Roll Apricot Cuticle Oil ($15), and then Gomez was ready for the big night.
