The monumental residential tower,unique in Central Europe,in the lower castle of the fortification system built by Béla IV,gained its name by mistake referring to King Salamon's imprisonment in Visegrád nearly 200 years before the tower's contruction.The tower castle was used for centuries as a checkpoint on the road from Buda to Esztergom.
