Rose-ringed Parakeet (Psittacula krameri) - Sharing a rice meal with a Palm Squirrel. (1,2)
Plum-headed Parakeet (Psittacula cyanocephala) - Male has a plum-coloured head, a green and black collar, a dark red patch and a blue tail. The female has a grey head and a yellow collar. Both sexes have yellow bills. (1,2)
Layard's Parakeet (Psittacula calthropae). Endemic - The male has a red and black beak with a black collar turning deep green at the back. Female has black bill and no collar. (1,2)
Sri Lanka Hanging Parrot (Loriculus beryllinus) - This is a lorikeet which is smaller than the parakeet species of Sri Lanka, and about the size of a sparrow. The name derives from its habit of hanging upside down, like a bat, when resting. (1,2)
