Growth Habits: Deciduous shrub, open with arching branches, 2 to 5 feet tall (60-150 cm), 4 to 8 feet spread (1.2-2.4 m); oval leaves, entire margins, 0.8 to 1.6 inches long (2-4 cm), paler underside

Watering Needs: Little water

Propagation: Offsets, seeds

The plant spreads by root suckers and runners. These should be removed not to be overrun.

Blooming Habits:
Yellowish white to pinkish white, bell shaped small flowers, 0.24 inch in diameter (6 mm), in small terminal clusters, in mid-summer.

Fruiting Habits:
They produce red, waxy, round drupes, about 0.25 inch in diameter (0.6 cm). Each drupe contains 2 nutlets with 1 seed per nutlet. The fruits stay on the plant in winter and provides excellent winter color. The berries are poisonous (containing saponin)
