The Amiko FTA Receiver is one of the best on the market.
The Amiko FTA Receiver is one of the best on the market. It's an older unit but has a proven track record, and to be honest the newer unites don't have any added features over the Amiko Mini HD265. FTA isn't as popular as it once was so finding an Amiko is sometimes difficult. I did check that this is easy to use and easy to set up - this is not totally accurate. FTA is not a plug and play setup - plus there are a ton of YouTube video's that claim to tell you how to set up your FTA receiver - many are bogus, skipping the most important steps in setup. However, with research and effort an FTA receiver will bring you news and sports from around the world. The news will have very different prospectives than our US politically correct biased news. was highly recommended by Robby Strike on Youtube.as being highly sensitive and easy to set up.. Bought it to replace my manhattan receiver that has problems holding some weaker signals.I found the set up guide sent with the unit very limited on how to use. After scanning in some channels even with the stronger ones.the picture will jump or go wavy or completly disappear for a fraction of a second and recover every 5 to 3 seconds.Annoying to watch. Also was not able to pick up some channels my other unit can.Contacted Ebay for return information. was highly recommended by Robby Strike on Youtube.as being highly sensitive and easy to set up.. Good quality receiver for beginners.
This receiver is a little better quality that some of the budget receivers you will find. The remote to the unit is well built. For the most part it is easy to setup I have mine running an 8 port diseqc switch. I had to add more satellite locations like 53 ,65 and 67 west . These satellites should be programmed into the library if the receiver is sold in the USA. Adding these location were not that difficult to do. The only real bug I found with this receiver is that if you relabel channels and re scan the satellite it will change the Chanel name to what is listed from the satellite. This is a Firm ware upgrade that Amiko should work on. Blind scans take about 3 min to complete. There are some stations on 65W I'm able to view now that are in English. Over all I would recommend this ... This receiver is a little better quality that some of the budget receivers you will find. The remote to the unit is well built. Well worth the money.
Having owned the two previous incarnations of the Amiko Mini, I really love the speedy boot-up of this latest model. I have to admit, this is my favorite STB, having tried a lot of different other brands and varieties. I even use it as my personal media player to play my favorite video clips.

Nice little receiver.
The receiver runs cool compared to others. I found it easy to set up. Just beware that one of the default settings is for shut off at 3 hours of use. Could be a problem if you were in the middle of a program when it shuts off....
