This small Henriot quimper jug was made in the first half of the 20th C. It features a Breton Peasant along with the traditional quimper decoration of flowers and leaves. Quimper pottery has been made in France for centuries and the signature under the handle and the lack of glaze on the base indicate that this is an early piece of quimper pottery As a faience piece it has a thin shiny glaze that has been applied rather crudely. The potter missed glazing part of the handle. It stands just 4 1/2 inches tall and might be considered a cream jug size. Except for tiny bits of rubbing to the edges of the glaze, it is in excellent vintage condition.
