  • 'Atropurpurea Nana' is a deciduous dwarf shrub, compact and bushy in habit, with spiny stems bearing purplish-red, obovate leaves, becoming brighter in autumn. Flowers small, pale yellow, followed by deep red berries in fall, whch are attractive to birds and often remain on the spiny stems after the leavs have fallen.

    Japanese Barrbery is very adaptable and an excelent choice as a single speciman plant or massed in beds, borders, as an informal screen or hedge. Great for rock garden too !
