Free SSD for any Foxconn AT-5570 purchase

Sweet deal at Newegg: a free 64GB ADATA SSD for any AT-5570 purchase.

We're still curious about the performance (and the temperatures) of this little box. The lack of vents and the size of the heatsink does puzzle us a bit.

Ixbt.com offers a review and some cool pictures. Our Russian is a little rusty, but they don't look too pleased.

Impactics NUC case

The latest passive NUC case is from Impactics, and it's the biggest yet.

At 170 x 114 x 67 mm and a whopping 1380g, cooling performance should be stellar (the pure copper heat spreader alone is 220g). The D1NU1 series - designed for Intel's D33217GKE and DCP847SKE boards - starts at 99 euros.

"Combined with an Intel NUC mainboard the D1NU series allows to set up extremely efficient, fanless yet powerful computers with a volume of only 1.3 liters. Technically the D1NU is not a case but a heat sink for the built in NUC platform. Two massive aluminium heat sinks are fixed between the front and rear bezel. Lost heat is conducted via a precision milled heat spreader to these heat sinks. As no ventilation holes are required for cooling, the D1NU is suitable for all applications in which noiseless operation, dust protection and low power consumption is required on minimum space.

The heat spreader is precision milled from one solid piece of electrolytic copper (99.99% purity). Front bezel is milled from 4 mm aluminium, while the rear bezel is made of chromium steel. A special soft shield at the rear bezel minimizes electromagnetic interferences.

Fanless NUC from 日本

OlioSpec from Japan launches its own version of the NUC featuring 4BG RAM and a 120GB SSD in a passive aluminum case (for $800+). OlioSpec makes no mention of any kind of performance, only that "temperatures are slightly higher than the fan version".

Indeed, this case looks rather skinny for a 17W TDP to us, and we'd rather go for something a little more heavy.

Akasa Euler review

Czech site Extrahardware samples the little Euler with a 35 W TDP Pentium, and a 55W TDP i3 (not recommanded by Akasa).

Overall an easy and fast setup, with good enough temperatures. Under heavy load the Pentium G630T reaches 62°C, while the i3-3220 reaches 81°C. Results are slightly better vertically, thanks to the vents on each side of the case.

Interestingly the 55W processor never reaches 50°C under normal usage, including 2 hours of 1080p content.

The most exciting Haswell processor

"The Core i7-4765T is the lowest TDP Haswell based quad core. It works at 2GHz, has four cores and eight threads and 8MB of cache memory. It supports DDR3 1600, at least officially, but turbo boost can get it all the way up to 3GHz.

This is an impressive score for a 35W quad core. The graphics core of choice is the HD 4600 that goes all the way up to 1200MHz. it comes in Q2 2013, so it should be out to late May or early June, Computex 2013 we assume."

If the rumor holds true, the i7-4765T will power our next PC.
