Teresa (Terry) C. (Stellato) Morgida, age 75, died on Tuesday afternoon, October 23, 2006 after a courageous, 7 _ month battle with cancer. She was the wife of Joseph V. Morgida of 52 years, and will be missed a great deal.

Teresa was born in 1931 to Raffaella and Pasquale Stellato in Boston, Massachusetts. She graduated from Somerville High School and went on to Carney Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1953 as an R.N. Teresa and Joseph brought up 3 children in Billerica, MA where she continued her nursing career, which included hospital, private and school nursing. Her career spanned the cities of Boston, as well as Lowell (hospital and private) and Billerica (school).

Teresa and Joseph settled full time in Fairhaven in 1996. She was a member of St. Joseph's Parish in Fairhaven, and past president of the church's Couples Club. She held a Board of Directors position for the Fairhaven Council on Aging as well as a Board of Trustees position at the Fairhaven Library. In 2005, to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, their 3 children and their spouses and 5 grandchildren presented them with their 1st trip to Italy where Pope John Paul II gave them special recognition for 50 years of marriage. Teresa will be greatly missed by her family, who will always cherish her love, encouragement, sound advice, courage, determination, and her fabulous meatballs!

Survivors include her husband Joseph and her children Joseph Jr. and wife Cynthia Morgida of Groton, MA, daughter Christine and husband John Vozella of Hopkinton, MA, and son Mark and wife Judy Morgida of Madison AL, as well as her 5 grandchildren Katie, Laura, Jennifer, Nicholas and Julia.

Friends and family may call at the Fairhaven Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Sunday, October 29, 2006 at 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. Her funeral will be TUESDAY, October 31, 2006 from the funeral home at 8:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial will at St. Joseph's Church in Fairhaven, 78 Spring Street, at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
