Fortnite’s Chapter 5 Battle Pass Has Leaked, With Wild Crossover Skins

Following

This always tends to happen before almost every new Fortnite season, but this time a leak that occurred when Xbox briefly put up an image that revealed the battle pass for Fortnite Chapter 5: Season 1 Underground, the new season that will arrive after Sunday’s Big Bang finale event for the OG map.

Here’s the skin page, which shows off some Fortnite originals, one super spy and one legendary Fortnite IP crossover fans have speculated about for years.

Yep, that’s Solid Snake and Peter Griffin joining the giant swimming pool of IP crossovers with Fortnite. Snake is a video game legend, and Konami recently released the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection, so I wonder if that has to do with the timing (though most people seemed to agree that Master Collection was not well handled).

Peter Griffin on the other hand is…Peter Griffin. I remember years ago when there were files buried in the game that were pulled from Family Guy, implying that Peter Griffin or other characters would end up in the game. But it took until 2023 for that dream to actually be realized, and in the battle pass itself no less. Granted, Family Guy isn’t as relevant as it was in (checks Wikipedia) 1999?? Wow, I am old. But yes, it’s still running today, up to season 22 as a FOX animation staple alongside the likes of The Simpsons.

The other skins, including the frontman in the photo and the blade-wielding tiger, all seem to have been pulled from past surveys, where Fortnite sends out dozens of potential skin ideas to players to see who they like and don’t. Then they tweak those skins and eventually throw them into the game. It seems a full five of them made the cut this time.

It’s been a bit of an odd time for Fortnite which has set playercount records with the return of its OG map, but Epic didn’t want it to overstay its welcome or have people forget too much about the continued march forward of new seasons, hence the finale event about a month after launch and the “real” start of the season thereafter. I’m not sure having just a single month of OG was the best idea, but we’re about to find out, I guess. And at the very least we have Peter Griffin leading the charge.
